| Welcome to the Guitar Amplifier Blueprinting website. There are hundreds of pages on this site. I cannot even find some of the things I have placed here over the years. This site really does not sell anything. This is here for informational purposes for musicians, tech, and just for folks interested in these sorts of things. Since February of 2002 when I started this site there had been over 2,000,000 unique IP visitors when I stopped counting in March of 2006. There are typically between 2,000 and 10,000 visitors per day. I have my own ideas on who I feel are the best vendors, whose amps I feel are the finest out there, and other pieces of info on these sorts of things. I generally try not to "slam" anybody but I will make an exception at times if I feel they are not doing things in the best interest of the player or musician. Feel free to contact me directly if you have a question or if you feel I can help in any way. The information I have posted on this site is what I feel is "public domain". This is "the Internet" and if I put it on this site it is for you do with as you wish. Feel free to copy, paste, link to, post, plagiarize, take credit for, sell, publish, or whatever. There are three great forums where the folks really have helping each other as their top priority rather than bickering. You can find me on these two forums on a regular basis - Dr Z Forum - Music Player (Guitar Player Magazine) Forum. Maybe I will see you over there. In each of these forums I answer questions directly and post various reviews, reports, and spotlight some of the cool new products as the become available. I am the moderator on each of these forums and in each there is a post to ask me technical questions. The posts are usually called either "Feel free to ask Myles" or "ask the experts" or something like that. Have a great day and happy playing! |
| Featured Cool Products - The best of the best This website is informational. I built this site a few years ago to assist musicians. This site is a place I post answers to questions, it is a reference resource, and a place I list products that cross my path which I feel are exceptional. Click on each of the thumbnails here. |
| The best of the best - Straps, Cables, DVD, Guitar Insurance, Distortion Pedals, Amp Book, Photographer, and fashion model / actress Ashley Danielle - My favorite model and one of the smartest people I know regardless of age. You can find a large page on her by clicking her head shot at the left ( to see one of her many pages) or to go directly to main her website CLICK HERE Moody Straps - Which amp or guitar is the best? This is a matter of personal preference. But there are some items that one can qualify as the very best. I may not have the best guitar in the world but I feel I have the best strap. Guitar Magazine seems to agree too. Click on the Moody Leather logo for a lot more info. One of the best amp books I have ever seen - Dave Hunter's "The Guitar Amp Handbook has things of interest for the entry level reader as well as the most high level experts. Follow the link to Amazon where you can see some of the inside of this book. A real winner. CLICK HERE Cables - I will leave it to you to find a more flexible, more transparent sounding, or less physically microphonic cables anywhere. These are best instrument cables I have ever used. The PJB speaker cables will be a very big surprise for folks that think that all cables are "pretty much the same". The cables from Solid Cable are sonically terrific, have Amphenol ends that are beyond even the Neutrik standard, and many other great features. Click on the PJB cable at the left above for more and the Solid Cables logo above right for more on the two best cable folks on the globe. Best DVD - This is one of the best DVDs I have seen and heard. I guess I can also make the rash statement that the player on this DVD is the best guitarist I have ever heard. Period. Carl Verheyen. If you do not know who Carl Verheyen is, trust me, you hear him just about every day. Read his bio by clicking here. Back to the DVD ... Surprises at every turn in style and tone, tone and style changes in just every song. This is a MUST HAVE DVD for ANY player of guitar or people that want to hear one of the very best writers and performers to craft a song. Click on the DVD above and BUY this. You will thank me. His latest 2007 CD "Take One Step" is also a masterpiece. Tons of interactive bonus material and a workshop on the DVD. MORE HERE Insurance - Heritage is the place to go. The best rates you will find anywhere. Backed by a huge icon in the insurance business. If you can find an exclusion I will be amazed short of an act of war. Theft, damage, loss, and even loss or damage when your instrument is in somebody else's care or automobile. The rates are too low to consider being without this protection. Click on the icon for more. Killer Pedals - Zendrive! On this one if you click on the icon you just get a bigger photo to see things clearly. For more info CLICK HERE to hit their website. The best pedal I have ever used or heard. Use from a slight drive to pretty darn heavy overdrive. Even at no distortion setting you can shape tone and color. VERY quiet and a master of engineering, design and construction. All the folks in Brad Paisley's and Sara Evans' bands use these. | I know I will get email on this one. This video is actually the end of the award winning DVD Rumor Mill. The reason this is here is because in my mind Carl Verheyen is the best guitarist I have ever heard, seen or worked with. I know ... that is a pretty rash statement but feel free to go watch him sometime or grab a copy of Rumor Mill and then we can argue the point :) More by CLICKING HERE |

| SEPTEMBER 2008 UPDATE - NEWS AND NEW INFORMATION I am now at 65amps - for a look at the shop, some video clips, some photos and other information such as why I opted not to move onto a boat again but decided to me land based in a mobile way CLICK HERE to get to the new 65amps page here directly without searching On August 15, 2008 I left Groove Tubes after six and a half years as they were sold to Fender. On September 12, 2008 I joined the staff at 65amps (www.65amps.com) as a member of the 65amps brain trust for lack of a better term. I am sure Dan Boul, one of the founding partners of 65amps will come up with a name better than my "brain trust" label at some point. I will continue to do what I have always done ... help guitar players sound better, one amp at a time. My Guitar Amplifier Blueprinting business will continue and will operate out of the 65amps complex. This complex will be closer for a lot of you than my old location. 65amps is very close to the Burbank Airport, Third Encore and Center Staging. I will also be supporting groups using either of those places on a 24x7 basis. As of September 15, 2008 65amps will have it's own tour bus on 24x7 call. If you have a requirement for ongoing tour support this can be discussed and a quote will made to fit your requirement. If short term support of a few days or a week is required this requirement can also be discussed. 65amps is located very close to the Burbank Airport and help is available anywhere on the globe rapidly. These services are not limited to players using amp made by 65amps. The service is available to all players regardless of equipment as I have always done. To discuss options and receive a quote on these services contact Sam Austin or Dan Boul at 65amps. I will continue to consult to other designers, techs, tube folks and other amp makers as I have done in the past. I will continue to offer services to design specific "one off" amps for a specific requirement. I will continue to moderate the forums for Guitar Player Magazine and the Dr. Z amp Forum and help in any way I am able in the Feel Free to Ask Myles columns or the Ask The Experts column on the Z forum. I will also continue to be available for phone support, email support and single night local show support for all of you. Questions can be posted in one of my columns on the two forums listed or you may send me a direct email. My level of tour support will not only continue but will increase. As before, I will be happy to set up things prior to a tour, train the techs that will be on the tour, produce full documentation for the techs to follow to keep things running during the tour, blueprint if requested amps prior or during the tour and provide 24x7 phone and email support during the tour. As of September 12, 2008, my tube test facility was relocated to the 65amps complex. If you are local to the area and wish to have some tubes tested or verified I will be happy to do this in the case of a few tubes. For larger quantities you will need to contact Sam Austin at 65amps for pricing. As a public service for all players, I will continue to produce and publish test reports on the current state of production tubes available to the end user on this website. 65amps has a superb staff of some of the top folks in the industry and will be adding to their collective expertise area over the next year. The 65amps complex will be a place where you will be able to turn in time of need for help in the resolution of most any problem. |
